What we store on your device, why, and how you stay in control.
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website. Similar technologies — such as local storage, pixels, and tags — do comparable things. Together they let a site remember information between visits or actions.
This policy uses “cookies” as shorthand for all of these technologies. It applies to the Adara marketing website at www.adaraapp.com. The Adara mobile app is covered separately in our Privacy Policy.
Under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and the UK GDPR, we may store strictly necessary cookies without asking, but we must obtain your consent before setting any non-essential cookie. That consent must be freely given, specific, informed, and given by a clear affirmative action.
To honour this, our banner lets you Accept all, Reject all (just as easily), or Manage each category individually. Non-essential categories are switched off by default — nothing in them runs until you turn it on. We record your choice and the date you made it, and we ask again if this policy materially changes.
You can review or withdraw consent at any time using the “Cookie settings” control at the bottom-left of every page, the footer link, or this button:
We group cookies into four categories. You control the last three.
| Category | What it does | Consent |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Core functionality: security headers, page routing, load balancing, and remembering your cookie choice so we don’t ask on every page. | Always on (no consent required) |
| Functional | Remembers preferences and interface state — for example, whether you’ve already seen our journal offer, so we don’t repeat it unnecessarily. | Off until you opt in |
| Analytics | Anonymous, aggregated statistics about how the site is used, so we can improve layout and content. No attempt to identify you personally. | Off until you opt in |
| Marketing | Helps us measure campaigns and, where enabled, show you relevant Adara content on other platforms. | Off until you opt in |
We keep our footprint deliberately light. At present the site stores the following first-party items in your browser’s local storage — no third-party advertising cookies are set:
| Name | Category | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| adara_consent | Strictly necessary | Records your cookie choices and the date, so we honour them and don’t re-ask. | 12 months |
| adara_popup_state | Functional | Remembers whether our journal offer has been shown, to avoid repeating it. | Session / up to 24 hours |
| adara_subscribed | Functional | Notes that you’ve already joined, so we stop showing sign-up prompts. | Persistent until cleared |
If we later add analytics or marketing tools (for example, a privacy-friendly analytics provider), they will only load after you opt in to the relevant category, and this table will be updated first.
Some features rely on trusted third parties. Where these involve storage or data transfer, they are governed by their own policies:
We never sell your personal information. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle the data you provide.
Beyond our on-site controls, every major browser lets you block or delete cookies and local storage:
Blocking strictly necessary items may stop parts of the site from working as intended.
Because we set no non-essential cookies without consent, we already meet the intent of “Do Not Track” and Global Privacy Control signals by default. Your explicit choices in our preferences panel always take precedence.
We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect new tools, legal changes, or operational needs. When we make material changes to how we use cookies, we will refresh the banner and ask for your consent again. The “Last Updated” date above always reflects the current version.
